Stroll through the heart of the city, enter the Saint-Michel Collegiate Church and the Notre Dame de Pitié Chapel, pass in front of the Présidial, former civil court and residence of the Countess of Lauragais, Catherine de Médicis, enter the former prison which has now become oday the Lauragais museum, there will probably be an exhibition on Cassoulet then go up to the Cugarel mill. You will have some of the most beautiful panoramic views of the Lauragais plain with the Montagne Noire and the Pyrenees in the background. Then you can go back down to the Canal du Midi, stroll around the Grand Bassin or take a bike or boat ride and discover the locks.

Carcassonne and its medieval city, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site
If the weather is clear you can go there by motorway and stop at the Belvédère d'Auriac rest area for a very nice view of the city and return through the vineyards. The visit of the castle can be done alone, guided or with a special animation for the children. You will stroll along the ramparts for both views of the city, the surrounding countryside as well as the Montagne Noire and the Pyrenees. You can visit the Saint-Nazaire-et-Saint-Celse basilica, a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic art, or attend a show in the theatre.

Naurouze threshold
It is the highest point of the Canal du Midi, culminating at 194m. It is the point of division of the waters coming via the Montagne Noire to supply the Canal des Deux Mers and departing either towards the Atlantic or towards the Mediterranean. It is possible to go to the level of this watershed.
