Everything you need to know before and during your stay at Domaine de Lanis

Domaine de Lanis is a charming bed and breakfast, neither a hotel nor a self-catering cottage. This means we welcome you into our home, in a warm and authentic setting, with a limited number of rooms (5), direct contact with your hosts and home-cooked meals served at our table. You will enjoy attentive service and an environment conducive to rest, but without certain services found in hotels or self-catering properties (such as a 24-hour reception or access to a kitchen).

 


Arrival and departure

 

What time can I arrive?

Arrivals are possible between 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM. Feel free to send us a text message when you have a clearer idea of your arrival time 😊

 

What time do I need to check out?

Check-out is between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM.

 


Comfort in the rooms

 

Are the rooms air-conditioned?

Yes, they are equipped with a heating and air conditioning system using a heat pump, individually adjustable. For environmental reasons, the temperature is limited to 22°C.

 

Is there a television?

No. We have chosen not to equip the rooms with televisions, in order to encourage relaxation and disconnection. Books, comics and board games are available, along with an excellent Wi-Fi connection so you can access your own content.

 

Is Wi-Fi available?

Yes, high-speed broadband Wi-Fi (fibre) is available free of charge throughout the house and on the terrace. 

 

Is there a welcome tray?

Yes, each room has a tray with organic tea, coffee and sugar, with 100% recyclable capsules.

 

Is it possible to have meals in the rooms?

No, we do not serve dinner in the rooms and ask our guests not to eat in the rooms.

 

Can I smoke inside?

The house is entirely non-smoking. Please smoke outside only.

 


Meals and table d'hôtes

 

Do you offer dinner on site?

Yes, we offer a table d'hôtes dinner, home-cooked using local, organic and seasonal produce. The meal includes an aperitif, a starter, a main course, a dessert and a coffee or herbal tea. It is a set menu for the whole table. If you have any specific dietary requirements (intolerance, special diet, etc.), it is essential to let us know at the time of booking. Reservation required at least 48 hours in advance. Dinner is available subject to a minimum of 4 guests dining that evening.

The table d'hôtes may occasionally be unavailable on certain evenings due to exceptional circumstances, but we always find a solution. Do not hesitate to call us beforehand.

 

Can I book the table d'hôtes without staying at the estate?

No, the table d'hôtes is reserved exclusively for our overnight guests. It is a shared table, in the spirit of a family home, not a restaurant open to the public.

 

Are there options for special dietary requirements (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.)?

Yes, provided you let us know at the time of booking or at the latest 48 hours before dinner. We are happy to cook for vegetarian diets. For severe intolerances (gluten, allergies), please contact us directly so we can discuss your needs.

 

Can I cook or reheat food?

No, access to a kitchen is not available for regulatory reasons relating to food hygiene and safety.

 


Outdoor spaces and facilities

 

Can we enjoy the park freely?

Yes, the one-hectare tree-lined park is accessible to all our guests: hammocks, hanging chairs, garden lounges… ⚠️ The outdoor areas are not enclosed and may not be suitable for very young children. In strong winds, we recommend avoiding the park.

 

Is there a swimming pool?

Yes, the outdoor swimming pool (12 m x 4 m, depth 1.40 m) is open from June to September, every day from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. It is not heated, but a thermal cover and a dark liner help retain the warmth. Sun loungers are available.

 

Do you provide pool towels?

Yes, if needed, we can lend you pool towels so you do not have to use your bathroom towels.

 

Are there games for children?

We have a table tennis table and a table football.

 

Is there parking on site?

Yes, parking is free on site, with a dedicated space for people with reduced mobility.

 

Do you have an electric vehicle charging point?

Yes, we have a 22 kWh charging point. You can reserve it as an add-on to ensure it is available for you.

 


Pets

 

Can I bring my pet?

We love animals, but they are not permitted on the estate. We can put you in touch with a local kennels.

 


Cycling and soft mobility

 

Can I arrive by bike? Is there a secure storage area?

Yes, and you are very welcome! We have held the Accueil Vélo label since February 2024. You have access to a locked storage room, sockets to charge your electric bike batteries and tools for minor repairs. The Canal du Midi is 3.5 km from the estate.

 

Where can I hire or have a bike repaired nearby?

Several providers offer bike hire nearby, depending on the day, duration, type of bike and pick-up location. We have listed a few on our Accueil Vélo page.

 

Can I get here by train?

Yes, Castelnaudary station is 3.5 km from the estate. If you have your bikes on the train, a few pedal strokes will bring you straight to us; otherwise, we recommend booking a taxi in advance. Do not hesitate to ask us for contacts.

Accessibility

 

Is the estate accessible to wheelchair users?

Yes. We hold the Tourisme & Handicaps label for all 4 types of disability (motor, hearing, visual and cognitive). Please visit our dedicated page.

The ground-floor Gingembre room is specially fitted for people with reduced mobility: step-free access, an adapted bathroom with a walk-in shower and grab rails, and circulation space designed for a wheelchair. The car park has a dedicated accessible space and the path to the room is fully step-free.

Do not hesitate to call us so we can describe the facilities in detail before you book.

 

Is the estate suitable for visually impaired or hearing-impaired guests?

How far are you from a train station?

We are 3.5 km from Castelnaudary station.

 

How far are you from an airport?

We are 37 km from Carcassonne airport and 72 km from Toulouse airport.

 

How far are you from the Canal du Midi?

We are 3.5 km from the Canal du Midi. And if you come by bike, we hold the Accueil Vélo label. More information here

 

How far are you from Carcassonne and Toulouse?

The medieval city of Carcassonne (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is 35 km away, 25 minutes by car or train. Toulouse is 65 km away, around 45 minutes by car or train. We are ideally located between the two, in the heart of the Lauragais.

 

How far are you from an airfield?

We are 7 km from Castelnaudary airfield.

How do I book?

What is your cancellation policy?

It varies depending on the offer and the period. Full terms and conditions are displayed during the online booking process. In special circumstances, please call us. We always try to find a solution.

 

Is it possible to privatise the estate?

Yes, for group stays (family, friends, seminars). We can accommodate between 10 and 15 people depending on the configuration, and we handle all the catering logistics so you can fully enjoy your time. We can also suggest activities with our various partners depending on your preferences. Contact us to discuss.

 

Do you accept ANCV holiday vouchers?

Yes, we accept ANCV holiday vouchers but only in digital form via Connect.

 

Are there preferential rates for longer stays?

We sometimes offer special rates for stays of 3 nights or more. Do not hesitate to contact us directly.
