Our environmental charter

La nature au coeur du Domaine de Lanis

La nature au coeur du Domaine de Lanis

Respect for the environment is central to our business. For ourselves, for you and for future generations, we do our utmost to minimize the impact of our activities on the environment. We are convinced that the small steps taken by each of us according to our convictions and possibilities will move us all forward towards a more sustainable world.

From 2022, we have been working with the CCI de l'Aude and ADEME (Agence de la Transition Ecologique) to go a little faster and further in our approach.

And at the beginning of 2024, in order to formalize our commitment and make continuous improvements, we decided to apply for the Clef Verte label.

The Clef Verte label distinguishes tourist accommodation and restaurants committed to a voluntary, effective and dynamic environmental approach. The label is awarded annually by an independent jury of tourism and environmental experts and professionals.

Here are just a few of our actions:

We save water

To reduce our water consumption, we made a number of choices during the renovation:

-       No bathtubs, only showers designed to limit water consumption.

-       Low-flow faucets.

-       Dual-flush toilets that save 50% of water consumption.

-       And every month we read our water meter to monitor our consumption and identify any leaks.

We sort and limit our waste

-       We sort all our waste: glass on one side and cardboard, plastic, cans, etc. on the other.

-       We have built our own composter for our vegetable food waste, and have a space for our other vegetable waste so that it can be returned to the earth.

-       In each room we've placed 2 garbage cans. One in the shower room for your non-recyclable waste, and one in the bedroom for recyclable paper, cardboard, coffee capsules and so on.

-       We prefer to use bulk, recyclable and/or reusable packaging, and especially avoid over-packaged products. The large proportion of homemade products we use means we can greatly limit the amount of packaging we use.

We save energy

-       Hallways are equipped with motion and/or time detectors.

-       We have replaced our oil-fired boilers with reversible heat pumps.

-       All our windows are double-glazed.

-       To limit evaporation from the pool water and gain a few extra degrees without the need for a heat pump, we installed a solar curtain and chose a charcoal grey liner.

-       We prefer low-consumption electrical appliances.

-       Once a year, we check the condition of our cooling and heating equipment.

-       We only use LED lights.

We buy responsibly

-       We favor local, seasonal and organic products for meals and eco-labeled products for cleaning.

-       We favor the purchase of products made in France, such as bedding, sheets, etc., or second-hand goods, notably furniture and some household appliances.

-       We have banned the use of individually-packaged hospitality and hygiene products.

-       For your comfort, we have chosen to provide a courtesy tray in each room.It contains organic tea, coffee and sugar; the capsules are 100% recyclable.

-       We work with ESAT Atelier du Lauragais Castelnaudary for bed linen maintenance. ESAT is a medical-social establishment whose aim is the social and professional integration of disabled adults.

We care about our customers' well-being

-       Our establishment is completely non-smoking.

-       Our meals are homemade, using local, seasonal and/or organic produce.

-       Carafes and glasses are available in every room, and filtered water in carafes is also available for meals or on request.

-       The products used for cleaning are all eco-labelled, which means better air quality and fewer health risks.

-       We have banned bleach, which irritates the respiratory tract and is toxic to aquatic organisms.

-       We provide our customers with information booklets and brochures on animal and plant species in the vicinity, as well as documents on soft mobility (transport timetables, bike rental and repair shops, maps of bike and hiking routes, etc.).

-       We have also produced an eco-gestures guide.

Some of these actions have received partial funding from the European Union.

We have already planned new actions for the coming years to perfect our approach, and will continue to add to it. Don't hesitate to send us your ideas!
